Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Summary: An eleven-month appointment in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This non-tenure track position is renewable annually.

Duties: The Visiting Assistant Professor will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Biochemistry. It is anticipated that the courses will include Biochemistry Laboratory, Chemistry and Applications of Biomolecules, and Survey of Biochemistry. Responsibilities will include selecting and ordering textbooks, preparing lectures and laboratory materials, giving the appropriate tests, evaluating laboratory reports and assignments, and assigning final grades. This position will also include academic advising for Biochemistry majors. The successful candidate will participate in undergraduate recruiting efforts, by meeting with prospective students, conducting tours, and recruiting at career fairs and college nights. Numerous opportunities exist for collaborative research within the Department.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in a life sciences field or chemistry, with extensive experience in biochemistry. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience. Prior success in teaching will also be viewed favorably.

Start Date: July 1, 2010

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
